Shanghai: Accelerate the layout of green methanol, LNG and other clean fuel supply chains for ships, and further promote green transport vehicles such as pure electric ships

Huayuan said that it will speed up to make up for the shortcomings of high-end shipping services and other aspects, and comprehensively improve the global allocation of shipping resources. Shanghai will take the development of high-end shipping services as a breakthrough point, further strengthen the hub function, and promote the transformation of digital, intelligent and green shipping.
First, excellent service. We will vigorously develop high-end shipping services such as shipping insurance and maritime arbitration. In terms of shipping insurance, it is necessary to rely on the construction of international reinsurance centers, promote the innovation of shipping insurance products and operating models, and enhance the global underwriting capacity of shipping insurance. In terms of maritime arbitration, China will make good use of the Regulations of the Shanghai International Commercial Arbitration Center, which came into effect at the end of last year, actively explore AD hoc arbitration, support overseas arbitration and dispute resolution institutions to set up business offices and conduct business in Shanghai, and encourage business entities to prioritize Shanghai as the location for dispute resolution.
Second, strong hub. In general, it is necessary to continue to improve the construction of the "three ports and one system" of seaports, airports, cruise ports and collection and distribution systems, accelerate the construction of a number of major projects such as the Xiaoyangshan North Operating Area, the Eastern Hub Shanghai East Railway Station, and the fourth phase of Pudong International Airport. At the same time, it is necessary to vigorously develop multimodal transport such as water-water transfer and sea-rail combined transport, and actively cultivate and develop the cruise economy.
Third, promote transformation. There are mainly two aspects of transformation, the first is smart transformation, and the second is green transformation. In terms of smart transformation, the focus is on continuously improving the service platform of Shanghai international container transportation based on blockchain technology, and accelerating the creation of a demonstration platform for the digitalization pilot of shipping trade. In terms of green transformation, the focus should be on promoting the construction of a green shipping corridor from the Port of Shanghai to the Port of Los Angeles, while accelerating the layout of clean fuel supply chains for ships such as green methanol and LNG, and further promoting the use of green transport vehicles such as pure electric ships.

In January 2022, the Port of Shanghai and the Port of Los Angeles jointly proposed the establishment of the corridor to promote the implementation of port-to-port cargo transport between the two ports in a clean and low-carbon manner. According to the implementation outline agreed by the two sides, shipping company partners will deploy vessels with full life cycle low carbon or full life cycle zero carbon emission capacity in the corridor from 2025. By 2030, the corridor will demonstrate the feasibility of the world's first full-life zero-carbon emission container ship (or fleet).
The Shanghai-Los Angeles route is one of the most dynamic maritime routes in the world, with nine international container liner flights per week between the two ports. In 2022, the container volume between the two ports will exceed 1.3 million TEUs.
Under the background of "dual carbon", the application of hydrogen fuel cells in the field of ships has ushered in great opportunities. As an emerging hydrogen technology enterprise, Lingniu Hydrogen Energy closely follows the national development strategy and plans to set sail on the first hydrogen container ship transport route in 2025, in order to lead the green transformation of the maritime industry. In the next three years, in addition to promoting hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and forklifts, the company will also operate 20 hydrogen fuel cell ships, and fully promote the demonstration and promotion of Marine hydrogen fuel cell systems, contributing to the smooth realization of China's green shipping and "double carbon" goals in the field of ship transportation.
